Aishwarya Rai upset?

All is not well with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, so to say. The actress, according to reports, is upset thanks to the response to her film.

Raavan and the controversy surrounding it ever since the Mani Ratnam movie hit the screens more than a week ago.

“It is to be noted that Ash has not made any public appearance after the film and her PR machinery has been asked to remain silent regarding her whereabouts.

This is to avoid any uncomfortable questions from the media,” a source reportedly said. “The former Miss World was extremely excited before.

The release of the film since she played the heroine in both Hindi and Tamil versions. Ash thought that she and her husband Abhishek would win accolades from all quarters. But the output was different and this has depressed her a lot,” the source added.

Amitabh Bachchan himself is not happy about the film and he wrote on his blog taking a dig at the editing process. “Lot of merited film edited out, causing inconsistent performance and narrative. Abhishek's erratic behaviour was due to symbolic 10 heads visually appearing and each giving him different attitudes to adopt for a situation, he would then finally shake them off and decide,” he said.

Katrina had travelled to some small time village a couple of months ago for her charity work, and the lady was absolutely non-fussy about the toilet she used during her stay in the village.

Sources reveal that the actress really surprised the locals, who were embarrassed about their modest facilities, when she did not hesitate at all before actually cleaning their loo and then using it!

Not just that, the well-mannered Kat even remembered to thank the village folk for letting her use their toilet. Well, with that, Katrina must not have surprised just the locals of the place but also impressed her fans.

Kareena abandoned for Aishwarya Rai

Kareena Kapoor’s joy was short-lived. Even as the actress was gloating over the fact that Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who prefers and loves working with Aishwarya Rai, had handpicked her for his forthcoming flick, comes the news that the director has reverted to his regular choice: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan!

Bhansali, however, aiming to be clinically professional about his dealings had sounded out Bebo about his intention of casting her in his future film. The undeniable debacle of ‘Raavan’ made Bhansali do a severe rethink before taking the extreme step of bringing Aish in.

States a close source, “Sanjay knew that Aish was banking upon ‘Raavan’ and ‘Guzaarish’ to take herself to new heights as an actress. But since ‘Raavan’ flopped so badly, Bhansali felt that casting Bebo at this stage would be terrible. It would be equivalent to betraying Ash and so he chose to bring her back into his film.”

Sallu steps in and his plans of retirement goes for a toss. At first, it was Salman’s home production “Dabangg”, in which Salman coaxed Mahesh into playing the role of Sonakshi Sinha’s father.

Next Salman decided to drag Mahesh by the neck and made him join the cast of Anees Bazmi’s “Ready” for which the actor is currently shooting in Colombo.

The decision was so sudden that Mahesh still has no idea which role he is supposed to play. “Salman said you have to do it. I know, I decided I won’t be acting any more. But you can’t say no to Salman.

He said, ‘You’re in ‘Ready’ and you’re part of my family in the film. Beyond that all I know is I play a positive role for a change,” said the actor.

Recent reports say that Bollywood Barbie Katrina Kaif is looking to shed her Barbie-doll image after portraying her serious role in Raajneeti.

Now, however we hear that Kat is awfully pleased with the alluring, sensual side of her. That Farah Khan has brought out in Tees Maar Khan. So much so, that she has requested Farah to direct her in an ad for Etihad Airways! Fickle or what?!

Nonetheless, becoming the face of Etihad will be Katrina's first airline endorsement, out of the many brands in her kitty. Farah, who has directed for many other stars, confirmed that Kat approached her to direct her in the advert for Etihad Airlines.

Katrina will be taking a day off from her filming of Zindagi Na Milegi Dubara, fly down from Spain to Abu Dhabi, to shoot for the ad in their airport lounge.

No, Kat will not be playing an air hostess! Farah has already picked out a solo number that Kat will be performing to, and she is excited about the actress hearing out the scheme of things! While we're far from the right people to give Katrina career advice.

We wonder if presenting her glamorous side in an advertisement is the right way to get people to take notice of her acting chops instead of her looks! Or did we read too much into her solemn declarations not too many days ago?!

Priyanka back to Ranbir

Priyanka Chopra just can’t stop smiling. After returning to Mumbai post a 65-day shoot for Saat Khoon Maaf in Coorg, Mysore and Pondicherry the actress is savoring every moment of her stay at home.

She has rather been out of Mumbai for entirely this year – first with shoots if Anjaana Anjaani and the Saat Khoon Maaf. However that does not mean that.

She is only staying indoors and resting it out. Rather the actress is already out working. And this time it is some patch work that was left from her film Anjaana Anjaani. “We’re doing a super song addition,” she updates.

The film was completely shot in the US over a schedule of two months early this year and it stars Ranbir Kapoor opposite Priyanka. Looks like this one is going to be one hectic year ahead!

Review - ‘Mr Singh Mrs Mehta’ is risqué yet refreshing

Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Love Sex aur Dhokha’ seems to have opened the floodgates of a risqué cinema in Bollywood, for Pravesh Bhardwaj’s ‘Mr Singh Mrs Mehta’ is woven around infidelity in marriage. Starring Prashant Narayanan, Naved Aslam, Aruna Shields and Lucy Hassan, ‘Mr Singh Mrs Mehta’ is the story of Mr Singh (Naved Aslman)

And Mrs Mehta’s (Lucy Hassan) extra-matrimonial affair that somehow draws Mrs Singh (Aruna Shields) and Mr Mehta (Prashant Narayanan) together, with both seeking comfort and solace in each other’s company. The movie revolves around the complicated foursome relationship that borders on love and lust.

The film deals with infidelity with a certain deal of maturity without going over the top with cheap publicity, thrills and skin show. ‘Mr Singh Mrs Mehta’ deals with complex human characters, for instance, take Mr Mehta – an artist by profession.

Who loves spending quality time in his studio. He takes immense pleasure in his creativity, both in the making and destroying of his paintings. When he is done with that, he also loves going out on long drives. However, with the growing proximity of Mr Mehta and Mrs Singh, the former hardly takes any time in painting nudes of Mrs Singh with élan.

There is a strange ease in Mr Mehta and Mrs Singh’s illicit relationship, for it is based on the proximity generated by their victimization. Nevertheless, there is a hardly any difference between the good and bad. In terms of acting, Prashant Narayanan, Naved Aslam, Aruna Shields and Lucy Hassan are quite convincing when it comes to the execution of their respective characters. Above all, all four look totally comfortable in front of the camera.

Aruna Shields looks ravishingly hot despite her pixalated shots. Prashant brings in a lot of control and vulnerability in his portrayal of a painter and jilted husband. Sharang Dev and Ustad Shujat Hussain Khan’s background score perfectly blends with the film. ‘Mr Singh Mrs Mehta’ is at least worth a watch!

Strange but true as for the first time ever, Kat will be dolled up by Manish in a film.

The actor, who has had a long standing relationship with her favourite designer and close friend Rocky S, has always fallen back on Rocky for movies to red carpet attire or general tips.

However, the actor now is working for Karan Johar’s sequel to Dostana for which the film-maker has Manish doing the look of the lead characters. Manish is known for bringing glossiness.

On screen and has done so effectively for two decades in which. He has stamped his presence as the best fashion designer in India.

Dostana 2 will be more stylish than even the original film that starred Priyanka Chopra.

Katrina reveals, “It is true that I have never worked with Manish. It is just that our paths never crossed until now. Dostana 2 will be a super-stylish, super-chic movie. I’m looking forward to working with him specially since I have seen what he can do and heard the rave reviews about his sense of fashion and styling from people in the industry. It’s an association I’m looking forward for.”

Ask Katrina about what she loves about Manish and she shoots, “He is one of the best designers we have in India and he had dressed up the best in the industry. I really like his clothes. He has done very interesting and stylish and glossy work for so many actors and made them look good.”

Sonu Nigam will pay tribute to late King of Pop Michael Jackson

The owner of most delicious voice in India, Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam, who is a huge fan of late.

Pop legend Michael Jackson, will soon launch a tribute to the late 'King of Pop' who died last year on June 25.

Sonu said he is working on a tribute for MJ with his brother Jermaine Jackson. Talking to reporters here, Sonu said 'I am working on a song which will be my tribute to Michael Jackson.

This will be the first tribute song to the singer with one of his family members. After the song is recorded, I will work on a music video and release it soon'.

The 92.7 Big FM will play the songs of the King of pop all day and Nigam will be on air dedicating his favourite Jackson songs.

The kind of work he has done,' said Nigam. On the professional front, Nigam informed that he is currently working on an album on world music. 'I'm not singing too many film songs nowadays because I am not getting the kind of songs I want and I am not willing to do mediocre work. I am working on a world music album currently because I want to focus and encourage non-film music as well,' he said.

Vidya’s Cousin makes her Bollywood Entry

Another southern actress is gearing up to make her presence felt in Bollywood. And as far as reviews go, she is already well on her way.

This is none other than Vidya Balan’s cousin Priya Mani. The actress recently was cast in a small but important role in Mani Ratnam’s much hyped “Raavan”.

And she has caught the attention of Bollywood with her small role, in which she describes her gang rape by cops. Her powerful acting has already raised eyebrows And generated attention towards her.

While the leads of the film are cribbing about the editing in the movie, this newcomer is very satisfied with her role.

“My role couldn’t be cut. Mani Sir told me it brought colour and vibrancy into the story,” said she. Well, evidently, she made quite an impression in that small role and Ram Gopal Verma has already cast her in his next film “Rakta Charitra”.

Priya, though is not a newcomer in the field of cinema. The actress, who has been acting from the age of 18, has done many roles in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. In 2006, she even won the national award for her performance in a southern film. But the actress was not eager to continue doing serious roles. “I quickly gravitated towards conventional glamorous roles because I no longer had to prove myself as an actress,” she said.

When asked, if she is banking on her cousin Vidya to help her out in this unknown B’Town, she was quick to reply, “No, I’m not really in touch with Vidya. I’m more in touch with her father. Whenever I visit Mumbai, I make it point to meet him. But I don’t expect them to help me in Bollywood at all…”

According to latest news reports Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has turned down some high profile Hollywood projects including her latest offer from Brad Pitt.

The actress has confirmed the piece of news and commented that it was her lack of time which did not allow her to give nod to the Hollywood projects.

The beautiful actress commented that she let go of Brad Pitt-starrer Troy because it had a couple of intimate scenes.

She added that she was not sure about doing them and so she had to turn the film down. Well this is one problem that married actresses in India face.

Even though a very selected few get top notch projects in after marriage, most of them shy away when it comes to intimate scenes because they have a family to whom they are answerable.

If we remember correctly then Aishwarya was very much interested in doing Hollywood films at one point of time. However it seems that these days she had curtailed her ambition partly because she needs to give her family time.

Bollywood seductress Megha Naidu's cybernamaa

Bollywood’s oomph quotient from Vijaywada, the sexy Megha Naidu is pregnant according to a hacker. The shocked Bollywood bala had complained to the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell in Mumbai about a hacker who got her ‘pregnant’.

Like every other hacker this one too breached her Gmail account with his weird imagination and chatted with his friends, saying ‘was pregnant from a fling with a guy whose name she couldn’t remember’ and that she ‘needed advice’.

But this smart fella was caught by her ex-publicist Dale Bhagwagar on the chat who sensed something fishy about the way Meghna was chatting. Immediately after the chat, Dale called her residence to verify if it was Meghna on the chat, and her parents told him, she had gone for her yoga class.

When the actress returned the call an hour later, she was shocked to learn about the conversation. Meghna said, “I was paranoid when I checked my Google chats. This imposter had been chatting with a lot my friends and claimed I was pregnant out of a fling. To add to this craziness, he wrote, I’d forgotten the name of the guy who made me pregnant. All this bogus talk was insane and scary.”

Poor Megha, it didn’t stop here and when the actress-dancer complained at the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell. The cops there didn’t seem to be much interested about my case But the gusty sex siren kept her cool and hoped that the cops will realize their kartavya (read duty) and she hopes that they will track the hacker. Moral of the story especially for Bollywood goris - Be any glory, don’t chat with unknown chora chori.

Kareena Kapoor Hits the Red Light District

The latest buzz from B-town is that Bollywood babe Kareena Kapoor is set to hit the red light district! Kapoor plans to do so for her next flick, Heera Mandi. Kareena is going to play the role of a sex worker. Based on her strong performance as a prostitute in Sudhir Mishra's film Chameli in 2003, it makes perfect sense that she would be chosen to play a role of this kind again.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali film reunites Kareena Kapoor with Abhishek Bachchan onscreen. Kareena made her debut in the film Refugee where she starred in the lead opposite Abhishek. A few years later in 2003 the two acted together in Sooraj Barjatya's film Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon.

Now they are back again and hopefully will light up the silver screen together! Bhansali plans to start shooting for the film once he wraps up his current project Guzaarish which stars Hrithik Roshan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan. Rumor has it that Bhansali was considering Hrithik for the role after being impressed by his work on Guzaarish. However, it looks like Abhishek is still locked in for the part.

Sources say that Kareena Kapoor is very excited to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali as she has wanted to for a while. Previous projects that they have tried to work on together have fell through due to personal or professional circumstances. Now they have the chance to work together and we will have to see if they can properly portray the story behind the red light district in Lahore, Heera Mandi.

A song for Katrina

Though busy shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Milegi Na Dobaara, Katrina Kaif cannot help smiling over.

The admiration and adulation that she’s got for her performance in Raajneeti. A friend said, “Javed Akhtar will pen a special poem for Katrina that will be included in Zoya’s film.”

When Katrina heard about it, she couldn’t believe it. “Katrina was dumbstruck.

She could not believe that the veteran and respected lyricist was actually going to write a poem on her. It will be used as a song in the film. But it wll be entirely dedicated to Katrina.”

Being the female lead along with several heroes, Katrina, along with Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan and Abhay Deol is having a great time shooting for Zindagi Milegi Na Dobaara in Spain.

Dad fails to recognise Priyanka!

While shooting for Paa, Vidya Balan had a tough time recognising Big B in his Auro avatar. Priyanka Chopra found herself in a similar situation recently when her possessive father Dr Ashok Chopra failed to recognise her in her get-up as an old woman.

In Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film Saat Khoon Maaf, Priyanka plays all the different stages of a woman’s life from age 18 to 65 years. Professional make-up artists have been flown down from Australia to create all these varied looks.

A source confirms that while shooting for the film in Coorg recently Priyanka had been stranded for long without any network on her phone.

“Priyanka had been missing her parents. So, she asked them to come for a small visit to spend sometime with her. Her parents decided to go and meet her on the sets of her film.

On that particular day, Priyanka was shooting a scene with Naseeruddin Shah in which she had played a 65-year-old woman.

The make-up on the actress was so unusual that her father failed to recognise her.” When contacted, Dr Chopra recounted his experience in utter bewilderment, “I was stunned to see Priyanka. I could not recognise her. I actually went up very close to her to ensure she is the same Priyanka.

The make-up artist had done such a fabulous job with her that she looked much older than her mother. Right from her face to her wrinkled hands and feet, she had been transformed into an old woman. While actors attempting geriatric roles often overact, Priyanka has a proud father who added, “My daughter was a natural and even spoke like a typical 65-year-old.”

Asin is Sure Sexy

Asin promotes Sure - Anti perspirant from Hindustan Lever in this new clip. The south beauty manages to take the yuck-factor out of the deo ad with her No Paseena endorsement.

Asin, 24, says she uses the products that she endorses. "I use the products I endorse. It is not that I use them because they approached me.

I have been using most of the products before they approached me, like Tanishq or Mirinda."

Some of the other brands that she endorses include Big Bazaar for apparel retail. Tata Sky, Clinic All Clear, Mirinda and Fairever Fairness cream. Asin, whose last Bollywood appearance was with Salman Khan in London Dreams (2009) will star with him again in Ready, a musical romance and comedy based on a 2008 Telugu film headlining south actor Ram and Genelia.

Asin will also star in Vipul Shah's Kaakha Kaakha Remake directed by Nishikant Kamat with co-stars John Abraham, filming for which was to start this month but has now been postponed.

She is currently filming for Kaavalkaaran, the Tamil remake of Malyalam film Bodyguard (2010). The Hindi remake of Bodyguard will headline Salman Khan.

Kareena Kapoor makes a smashing entry

When it’s a Rohit Shetty film, expect a pageantry of cars on the big screen. The director made Ajay Devgan propose his love to Bipasha Basu in a mid-air upended car in All The Best. Now, he’s made Kareena Kapoor ride on the bonnet of a moving automobile in Golmaal 3.

The comedy film about a bunch of oddball characters in funny situations stars a host of actors including Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemu, Arshad Warsi and Mithun Chakraborty. The most eye-grabbing, however, would be Kareena’s entry scene in the flick.

She will be seen standing atop the bonnet of a snazzy race car. The scene was obviously risky, but Bebo was game for it. Her only condition was that Rohit Shetty should be on the steering wheel of the car. We hear that necessary security measures were taken. Kareena was harnessed to a safety cable in case the stunt went wrong. As luck favours the brave, Bebo pulled off the stunt with flying colours. Well, she’s the man.

Zarine Khan - Is she the next Katrina Kaif?

Bad monsoon weather has not just caused problems for local Mumbaikars but it has also derailed actor Deepika Padukone’s ambitious sky diving plans. However, the actor is not letting this little hitch to dampen her spirits.Deepika tweeted that she is not giving up on her plans but is just rescheduling the day of her daring act. “Couldn't do the jump yesterday...bad weather...have to reschedule it now,” she wrote.

The young actor who recently became a pro sea diver says sky diving will be another life changing moment of her life. “So on my way to another life altering experience! Skydiving! Super excited! Butterflies in my stomach. Actually feel like rats now! Wish me luck,” the actor had tweeted moments before she called off her plans due to rough weather. On her career front, Deepika has really bonded well with Imran Khan, her co-star from another movie, whom he dubs as a fun person to be with.

Raajneeti saw Katrina Kaif in her first de-glam avatar… Yes. But know what… I dislike makeup. So when Prakash Jha (filmmaker) said I have to play a politician without pancakes.

I was more than happy. But the words that are mostly associated with you are hot and sexy…

You know, I personally feel that I am not hot or sexy. You have to have an appeal that will make you special.

My appeal lies in what the audiences think about me. All you have to do is try not to disappoint them.

Like, Vidya Balan is known for her very ethnic roles…people love her in that. And, I think I am known for my fun roles.

That’s how we feel comfortable; not by the tags on our looks. When you started, were you conscious of the fact that people will give you opportunity in Bollywood because the way you look?

I started modeling when I was 14 and entered the glamour industry at a very young age. I am aware of my looks but I guess only looks is not enough in my profession. Many Bollywood actresses are trying their hands in action. When are we going to see you as an action heroine?

I love doing different kind of things. I love doing things that I am scared of. But I don’t like jumping out of planes; I like my feet to be on the ground instead of in the air. (Pauses) On second thoughts, I would love to do an action film like Charlies Angles. And…And? I want to do a period film.

You are considered lucky for Box Office. How’s that most of your films turn out to be BO hits? Films are something you have to pick by your instinct. I feel there is something Greater Force present in my life, which has saved me from doing a lot of bad films. I have noticed that the films which I have not done, or wanted to do but didn’t work out for some reasons or another, have not done well.

Other than Ranbir Kapoor, all your on-screen heroes are quite elder to you…Yeah! At times I rag them on this issue. But they will say: ‘Look at us and other men in our age group’. Really, you have to give them credit; it’s not easy to maintain yourself like that, trust me. They all look so fantastic for their age-Aamir (Khan), Shah Rukh (Khan); my mother finds Akshay Kumar really good-looking. (Smiles)

You are seven sisters… it must have been crazy growing up together? It’s a wonderful experience to live and grow with my six sisters. My biggest regret is that I can’t live with all of them under the same roof now. What are the things you can’t do without?

Japanese food, sleeping, beaches…and of course, movies...they are my passion.What is the mantra you have adopted after almost seven years in Bollywood? Live and let live (laughs). I want to be happy and be loved…that’s all.

Media speculations involving you and Salman Khan are still on. Salman has been telling the media that he is not alone and also hinting at his relationship with you. What will you say about this? He is a very senior actor and has his own ways in dealing with the media. But I don’t like making my personal life public.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in trouble again

THE SUPERSTAR of Bollywood and controversies, Salman Khan is again in trouble.

The muscular man of bollywood is again in the news for wrong reason. Salman Khan, who was part of IIFA.

Which happened in Colombo, Sri Lanka recently, was completely mesmerized by the its beauty so much.

That he convinced the maker of his forth coming film ‘Ready’ to shoot in Sri Lanka. Initially Mauritius was finalized.

As a location for ‘Ready’, but giving to will of Salman, the makers are contemplating about Sri Lanka.

This decision of changing the location from Mauritius to Sri Lanka has earned the wrath of South.

Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC), and they are planning to launch a non co-operation motion against the film.

Talking to media, L Suresh, the General Secretary of SIFCC observed, “If the news is true, we will announce a non-cooperation motion against the film. ” Only time will tell what kind of non co-operation SIFCC is thinking of. “Now, we’ll only take action against someone who wants to shoot upcoming films in Sri Lanka. We don’t want inconvenience for producers, distributors and producers.”

Interestingly, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce has backed out from its earlier plans of going against the actors who attended and participated in the IIFA celebrations in Colombo. Meantime, Salman Khan’s Dabang is about to release in September this year. Like Amir Khan, he also feels that the film, which releases during Eid does good business. Wanted is case in point.

Kareena Kapoor to play sex worker for the second time in Heera Mandi after Chameli

AFTER A long wait, Kareena Kapoor will finally be working with ace director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his upcoming project “Heera Mandi”. The project will go on floor as soon as Sanjay wraps his his ongoing project “Guzaarish” with Hrithik Roshan. Both of them had expressed their desire of working together but things could not materialise owing to various personal as well as professional reasons.

Although they had discussed a couple of projects like Devdas and Bajirao Mastana with Salman Khan, circumstances forced Sanjay to shelve the project, the main reason being that their movie, Kyun Ki failed to do well at the box office. Ash takes FIFA break after Raavan's release!

With Raavan, her first Bollywood film in two years opening in theatres today, Aishwaya Rai says it is time for a football recess. “Life right now is super hectic.

In fact super hectic to the power of ten,” Rai sighs. “It’s been a crazy roller coaster ride.” Would going for the soccer world cup provide a needed break?

Rai says, “Abhishek and I are both soccer fans and and we root for Brazil. But as far as going for the world cup is concerned, I don’t think we would be able to make it.

Things are just too busy.” The Bachchans came under flack for their absence from the IIFA awards in Colombo. Even actor Salman Khan criticised.

Amitabh Bachchan’s no-show, despite being IIFA’s brand ambassador Ash explains, “The press made this into a big issue, without getting into facts. My international commitments are chalked out at the start of the year itself and Wizcraft (the organisers of IIFA) knows that well. I had committed to attending the French Open in Paris.”

She adds, “Abhishek was shooting for Game in Istanbul. In any case, he said it’s Pa who’s the brand ambassador of IIFA, not us. We need not go every year. And despite wanting to, we couldn’t have made time for it. Still if people say bad things, what to do? The tongue is the only boneless entity in the body, so those who want to talk unnecessarily, would continue to do so.”

On working with director Mani Ratnam on Raavan, the film that opens in theatres today, Rai says, “Mani is one filmmaker who forces you to think from a fresh perspective. He has played a key role in the film careers of both Abhishek and me. I debuted in Iruvar with him, and Yuva turned out to be a turning point in Abhishek’s career.”

The couple celebrated their third marriage anniversary in April, Rai says they didn’t gift each other anything. “At the risk of sounding corny, I’d say our only gift is to give ourselves to each other. Abhishek and I have a ‘no gift policy’ in our marriage.

Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala ties nuptial knot with Nepali businessman

Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala has tied nuptial knot with Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal in Kathmandu, Saturday.

The wedding function took place at the capital’s Gokarna Forest Resort on Friday and Saturday in the presence of family members.

And other invitees from Nepal and India. The ‘Swayambar’ was performed on Friday, while the wedding function took place Saturday morning.

Koirala, who hails from a high-profile political family in Nepal, started her cine-career with Nepali film ‘Pheri Bhetaunla’ before she moved on Bollywood.

She acted in many Hindi films including 1942: A Love Story, Shaudagar and Akele Hum Akele Tum. She is the granddaughter of Nepal’s first elected Prime Minister BP Koirala.

Koirala, 39, announced she would marry Dahal, seven years, younger than her, in April. Dahal is a businessman in Kathmandu. He has founded an alternative energy company in Nepal recently after completing his education in the US.

Aamir to join Twitter on July 1

After much persuasion from megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood actor-producer Aamir Khan has finally decided to join micro-blogging website Twitter July 1.

"Aamir will be on Twitter from July 1. He was not on Twitter till now because he thought he won't be able to give enough time to it.

But since Mr.Bachchan insisted on him joining it, he gave it another thought and has decided to join it. He cannot say no to Mr.Bachchan," said a source close to the actor.

Aamir met Amitabh and his actress-politician wife Jaya over a casual dinner in London last week and Amitabh started persuading him.

Ravi Maria says, “Like ‘Milaga’ is set in Madurai, ‘Mirchi’ will be set in Goa. As far as the Telugu version is concerned, attempts are on to rope in either Allu Arjun or Prabhas to play the protagonist.” The director added “It is a realistic story on a group of youngsters in Madurai. At the same time, the narration would be very racy and the movie will be an attractive package of all necessary commercial elements.”

Bollywood stars shine at "Raavan" world premiere in London

Hundreds of screaming fans lined the red carpet at the British Film Institute with the two screen stars fully appreciating the enthusiasm and growing international popularity of Bollywood movies under a new genre of filmmakers.

"It's wonderful. Look at the reception we've got. We are feeling on top of the world and so happy that we came to London to premiere the film," Bachchan, 34, told Reuters Television. In the film Aishwarya Rai, 36, a former Miss World, plays a dancer and wife of a police inspector who is abducted by a ruthless bandit (Bachchan) and held hostage at his jungle hide-out.

The actors performed their own stunts in the film but Aishwarya Rai said the production was as taxing emotionally and creatively as it was physically. Two versions of the movie were filmed back to back - one in Hindi and one in Tamil.

"We talk about how hard it was physically but, that apart, it was creatively challenging for all of us and that's the kind of challenge actors enjoy. So we truly cherished this entire experience," she said.

Also attending the world premiere to lend some family support were Bachchan's parents, the legends of Bollywood cinema Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bhaduri.

"I've never seen anything like this before and it just shows the love and affection that people outside of India have for our films," said Bachchan Snr.

The film also stars Tamil actor Vikram in his Bollywood debut as the police inspector. The actor said he hopes to make a mark with a new audience.

The Mumbai film industry, home to Bollywood, has been the face of commercial Indian cinema for several decades, relegating non-Hindi films to the sidelines.

"This is my first Hindi film so I'm very excited because I'm going to get a totally new audience that kind of gave me a thrill," he said.

A boost in investment in the Bollywood film industry in recent years and a new breed of filmmakers has seen Indian movies receiving much wider global distribution.

Last May the Bollywood film "Kites" had the widest ever release for any film production to date.

Director Mani Ratnam, who is to be honoured with the "Glory to the Filmmaker" award at the next Venice Film Festival, said Bollywood films had become popular in Britain first but this interest was now spreading in Europe and North America.

"I think the UK has always been open to Indian films and is getting more and more so now. It becomes a platform where we can showcase (our movies) to the rest of the world," he said.

"Raavan" opens in British cinemas on June 18.
